Acrylic pour is an art technique where paint is mixed with different mediums that make it particularly fluid, to a desired consistency that allows the artist to pour it over the canvas, then either tilt it around, blow it around, spin it, swoosh it, or wreck it (creating lines with use of sharp objects such as toothpicks or the edge of a spatula). Though the artist has full control over the choice of colors used, they don’t however have much control over the final outcome of the painting. It is noteworthy that this depends on MANY elements that play a key role in this, but ultimately it is primarily due to the fact that each color or pigment has a particular weight, and the outcome largely depends on heavier colors being poured over lighter colors so the latter floats to the surface, while the heavier color/ pigment sinks to the bottom of the painting. This phenomena creates what is commonly known as cells.
